Scranton School District officials plan to address gang violence and beef up school security in the wake of recent gang-related activity. According to reports, the district is looking to provide training for students and staff on student violence and gang-related activities. Acting Scranton School Superintendent Patrick Laffey said officials have reached out to organizations to facilitate it and could ask the board to approve additional in-service days for the training. Monday’s meeting was the first since two gang-related incidents took place in Scranton.
