The aunt of the 14-year-old girl recently found deceased in Wilkes-Barre has been extradited from Maryland to Luzerne County. Bobbiejo Etzel was returned to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on February 28 to face counts of corruption of minors and interfering with the custody of her niece, La'Niyah "Lala" Clark.
While the death investigation remains active, current court records for Etzel have been sealed, meaning details regarding her bail or specific dates for her preliminary hearing are not currently public. Investigators state that Clark allegedly fled to her aunt's care in mid-January, which violated a standing Protection from Abuse (PFA) order that prohibited Etzel from having any contact with the teen.
La'Niyah Clark's remains were discovered behind a garage on Thayer Street on February 21. At this time, investigators have only charged Etzel with crimes related to the teen's disappearance and the custody violation; no charges have been filed against her in direct connection with the death itself as the District Attorney's office continues its investigation.
