GIBSON TWP., PA — Autopsies are scheduled to be performed today for the four members of a Tunkhannock family killed in a weekend single-vehicle crash in Susquehanna County, according to Susquehanna County Coroner Jessica Chiaramonte. The victims—identified as 45-year-old Peter Thatcher, his 45-year-old wife Sandra Thatcher, their 11-year-old son Noah, and their 10-year-old daughter Layla—were found deceased inside their sedan approximately 60 feet down a steep embankment along Rock Mountain Drive.
As state police continue their investigation into the cause of the fatal wreck, community members have rallied to support the grieving relatives left behind. The Tunkhannock Assembly of God, where the Thatcher family faithfully worshipped, is currently accepting donations to help cover funeral expenses and assist surviving family members, according to Rachel Rinaldi Howie, niece of Sandra Thatcher.
