Two children were hurt during a fireworks display at La Festa in downtown Scranton Sunday night. According to reports, EMS crews evaluated two children, a teen and a toddler in a stroller, after fireworks debris fell onto the crowd gathered for the annual La Festa Italiana fireworks display. Neither child suffered serious injuries. Fire department officials believe the wind picked up and blew some of the fireworks off course, causing them to detonate at too low an altitude. About 70 of the 380-or-so fireworks went off before officials halted the display.
