FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, PA — The 33-year-old daughter of one of Luzerne County’s most infamous murderers has been charged with stealing hundreds of dollars from a purse at a local Christian summer camp. State troopers have charged Jamie Leigh Bartoo, of Kingston, with a misdemeanor count of theft following an incident at Camp Orchard Hill on December 21.
According to the criminal complaint, Bartoo was captured on surveillance video removing a purse from underneath a table inside one of the camp buildings on Orange Road. Investigators allege that Bartoo took the purse to her vehicle and drove to another area of the complex. She reportedly left the purse on the ground near a door, but $800 in cash and a $100 Aldi gift card were missing from the bag when it was recovered.
Bartoo is the daughter of Hugo Selenski, whose case drew national headlines in 2003 when investigators unearthed five bodies in the backyard of his Kingston Township home. Selenski was ultimately convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in 2015 and is serving life in prison.
As of Tuesday morning, court records indicated that Bartoo had not yet been formally arraigned on the new theft charge. State police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the theft at the camp facility.
