SCRANTON, PA — The owner of a West Scranton daycare center is facing a felony charge after being accused of failing to report the abuse of a child by one of her employees.
Amy Ware, owner of Learn and Grow Early Childhood Daycare Center, appeared in Lackawanna County Central Court on Monday morning. She is charged with a felony count of failure to report child abuse and a misdemeanor count of lying to police. The charges stem from an investigation into alleged abuse that occurred at the daycare in September.
According to the Lackawanna County District Attorney's office, Ware was released on $50,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing later this month. As a result of the investigation, the license for Learn and Grow Early Childhood Daycare Center has been revoked, and the facility is currently shut down.
