A deadly fire over the weekend in Duryea. First responders were called to a home in the 500 block of Foote Avenue for a fire with entrapment just before 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Two people were removed from the fire and first responders said they had the fire under control in an hour and a half; however, one person did not make it out alive. That person has not been identified at this time. This is the second time this home has been on fire within the past 10 days according to the fire chief. Earlier this month, 10 people were displaced after a fire in the basement. The cause of Saturday's deadly fire in Duryea is under investigation.
