WILKES-BARRE, PA — Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce announced Monday afternoon that prosecutors will seek the death penalty against William Wolfe, the final defendant facing charges in the high-profile "House of Horrors" homicide investigation.
Wolfe appeared in the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas for his formal arraignment, where he reaffirmed his not-guilty plea and formally requested a trial by jury. A trial date has not yet been scheduled by the court.
The charges stem from the discovery of 38-year-old Nicole Cuevas, whose remains were uncovered buried in the basement of a residence on Carlisle Street in Wilkes-Barre in 2024. Investigators allege Cuevas was held captive, abused, and murdered inside the home before her body was hidden beneath the structure.
Wolfe faces multiple felony counts, including:
- Criminal homicide
- Kidnapping
- Aggravated assault
District Attorney Sanguedolce cited statutory aggravating circumstances in filing notice to pursue capital punishment against Wolfe. All other co-defendants linked to the Carlisle Street investigation have either entered plea agreements or been sentenced for their roles in the conspiracy and cover-up.
