PLYMOUTH, PA — A fatal residential fire in Plymouth Borough was intentionally set by the sole victim, according to findings released by the Luzerne County Coroner's Office.
Emergency responders were called around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday to a residential structure located behind 40 Church Street, near Commercial Lane.
Luzerne County Coroner Dion Fernandes confirmed that 51-year-old Carmelo Millan, a resident of the home, died in the blaze and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire, authorities determined that Millan intentionally set the blaze that resulted in his death. Because the incident was ruled an arson committed by the sole casualty, officials announced that no further investigation will be conducted.
