WILKES-BARRE — A former Wyoming Area teacher who admitted to providing marijuana gummies, nicotine vapes and pickle-flavored vodka to students has been sentenced in Luzerne County Court.
Judge David W. Lupas on Monday ordered Sarah Kester, 35, of Blakeslee, to serve 30 months on probation. Kester had pleaded guilty June 10 to three counts of possession of instruments of crime and one count of intentional purchase of a drug.
According to court records, Wyoming Area Regional Police charged Kester in December 2023 following an investigation into a complaint that she purchased nicotine vapes and gave marijuana gummies and vodka to three students. Two of the juveniles told investigators they did not consume the vodka.
Kester, represented by attorney Daniel Hunter, admitted to the charges in court.
The Wyoming Area School Board placed Kester on leave after her arrest and formally terminated her employment on Jan. 23, 2024.
Kester will remain under probation supervision until early 2028.
