The longtime business manager of Wilkes-Barre Township has been criminally charged after allegedly using a township-issued gas card hundreds of times to fuel his personal vehicles.
State agents and local police arrested Michael E. Revitt, 57, on Tuesday, charging him with theft and unauthorized use of an access device. Investigators allege that since 2019, Revitt made at least 484 unauthorized fuel purchases totaling $12,632 using a card assigned to a "Miscellaneous" account.
Ironically, the investigation began after Revitt asked police to look into another employee for fuel card misuse—an allegation that turned out to be unfounded. When police expanded their probe, they caught Revitt on surveillance footage filling up his personal vehicle at a local Wawa.
Revitt, who served as business manager for 25 years, was forced to resign last June after admitting to the personal use when confronted by the mayor. He was released on $25,000 unsecured bail and his attorney stated they intend to fight the charges in court.
