The former Wilkes University student who was being sought for a bail violation has turned himself in. Max Liebetrau surrendered to police in the Poconos. The 22 year old Wilkes-Barre man was charged with making terroristic threats and related offenses on March 31. Police say Liebetrau approached a theater student at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts on March 30 and allegedly told her to tell another student to “stay away from what is mine or I’ll (expletive) kill him,” police allege. During the probe, police say Liebetrau tried to gain access to Sterling Hall. Police searching the dorm found some of the former student’s property on a porch, including a butcher knife, a book of the Gospel and a dead rodent. There was also a note with the writing “Hell is empty” on it. Liebetrau was jailed without bail following his arrest. After waiving his right to a preliminary hearing, he was released on $100,000 unsecured bail. Prosecutors filed a motion to revoke his bail last week after being unable to find Liebetrau at his designated address. They also allege he sent text messages he sent in violation of his terms of release.
