In Lackawanna County Court yesterday, Kevin McDermott entered a guilty plea to attempted homicide in connection with a stabbing at the Viewmont Mall last year. Police described it as a "random act of violence" when McDermott stabbed a mall employee in the neck. He never offered a reason for the action. He will face a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison when he is sentenced.
