SCRANTON, PA – Facing the imminent cessation of SNAP benefits on November 1st, the City of Scranton and the Scranton Area Community Foundation have launched their planned digital fundraiser three days earlier than expected to meet the urgent needs of residents.
The "Heart of Scranton" virtual fundraiser officially kicked off yesterday, Wednesday, October 29th, and is scheduled to run through November 30th.
The joint initiative, which has been in the works for months, is now focused on raising immediate funds to support the community as federal assistance is set to expire. All donations collected through the platform will be distributed directly to local partners participating in the fundraiser, ensuring resources reach those most affected by the benefit cuts.
Need immediate assistance? Residents needing help now can call 411 for support.
Donations to the "Heart of Scranton" fundraiser can be made online at safdn.org/heart.
