High winds Sunday afternoon caused numerous power outages throughout Northeast Pa, knocking down trees and power lines. In Luzerne County, the Pittston, Mountaintop and Hazleton areas were especially hard hit, while downed trees, utility poles and power lines had a stretch of Interstate 81 closed to traffic in the area of the Dunmore exit 188, near the O’Neill Highway closed to traffic for emergency utility work. The Fleetville area in Northern Lackawanna County and Lake Ariel area in Wayne County were affected by power outages as well.
