Hundreds jobless after NEPA business closes without notice

Hundreds of employees in Luzerne County are left without after their company suddenly closed without warning. According to employees, Joriki in Luzerne County shut down for the holidays and never reopened, effectively leaving them unemployed. Dozens of Joriki Beverages employees gathered outside the company's packaging plant near Pittston, where they had expected to return to work after their holiday break. Instead, they received notices of termination via email on New Years Eve. In the notice, Joriki Beverages explained that due to "unforeseen circumstances beyond the company's control," Joriki had been forced to permanently close its Luzerne County location, resulting in 229 job losses.
