MIFFLINVILLE, Pa. — Road crews are preparing to begin a highway maintenance project near the Luzerne and Columbia County border that will impact daily commutes on Interstate 80.
PennDOT crews will be conducting shoulder improvements along the interstate, resulting in temporary lane closures. The work schedule begins today with restrictions impacting both the eastbound and westbound directions of travel between Exit 242 (the Mifflinville and Mainville exit) and Exit 246 (the I-80 rest area).
On Tuesday, construction activity will focus strictly on the westbound driving lane. On Wednesday, the construction zone will shift to the eastbound driving lane only.
The daily lane closures are scheduled to take place from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day. Motorists traveling through the area should expect minor delays, exercise caution when driving through the active work zone, and watch for changing traffic patterns.
