JENKINS TWP., Pa. — The Jenkins Township Board of Supervisors held off voting on a proposed data center ordinance following a lengthy public hearing on Monday, opting to first consider potential revisions based on community feedback.
The board expressed particular interest in concerns raised by residents of neighboring Pittston Township, which borders Jenkins Township directly adjacent to the zone where the data centers would be permitted.
The public hearing lasted just under two hours, providing community members an opportunity to ask questions and voice opinions on the ordinance. The regulatory framework was first presented to the public in March. Supervisors noted that the delay in taking a final vote will allow them time to thoroughly discuss and integrate necessary changes to the text before enacting the new zoning rules.
