The shooting in West Scranton Monday that left one man dead has been ruled as self defense. After reviewing the incident the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office concluded that the use of deadly force was justified and no charges will be filed in the case. According to Scranton police, 23 year old Kevin Kruk of Scranton, died after being shot during an argument with his ex-girlfriend and her mother at the home on Price Street. A victim, Isabell Schimelfenig, told officers she and her mother, Stacy Evans, were shot by Kruk, her ex-boyfriend. The mother's fiancé, William Morgan, then came downstairs with his own gun and Morgan and Kruk exchanged gunfire. Kruk was fatally shot by Morgan and he was pronounced dead on the scene. Schimelfenig and her mother were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.
