SCRANTON, PA — One of Northeast Pennsylvania’s most cherished cultural traditions marks a milestone this Labor Day weekend as La Festa Italiana celebrates its 50th anniversary in downtown Scranton. The four-day festival, which honors the region’s rich Italian heritage, officially kicks off Friday at 4:00 p.m. on Courthouse Square.

Organizers expect tens of thousands of visitors to flock to the heart of the city throughout the weekend. More than 70 vendors will line the square, offering an extensive selection of classic Italian cuisine, specialty dishes, and homemade treats alongside regional arts and crafts.

To commemorate the golden anniversary, festival organizers have added special historic displays showcasing La Festa’s 50-year legacy in Scranton. The long weekend lineup also features continuous live music on multiple stages, a classic car show, an annual 5K race, and the traditional outdoor Italian Mass celebrated on Sunday morning.
