A man from Wyoming County now faces charges including having a weapon on school grounds. Parents alerted Elk Lake School District officials when they saw a man wearing a clown mask driving through the parking lot of the Elk Lake Campus of the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center earlier this week. Police were contacted and later arrested Zakariya Akers of Monroe Township. They discovered he had a semiautomatic pistol in his vehicle. He told investigators he wore the mask as a joke and forgot the weapon was in there. He now faces among others, charges of carrying a firearm without a license. He's being held in the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility with a preliminary hearing next week.
