WILKES-BARRE, PA — Luzerne County Council has unanimously approved a new contract with Hart InterCivic to provide a new voting system for the county. The new equipment will be in place for the 2026 election cycle, with the contract becoming operational in the new year.
The five-year lease agreement with Hart InterCivic is valued at $574,000 annually. This cost includes not only the voting machines but also the necessary software, maintenance, and support services. The decision to lease the equipment came after months of extensive testing and evaluation by county officials.
County officials stated that the Hart InterCivic machines were determined to be best for the county's needs following a thorough review. The unanimous vote by the council highlights a consensus on the need to update the county's election infrastructure and technology.
