WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Luzerne County Election Board has voted to once again make mail ballot drop boxes available for the November 4 general election, continuing a plan that was successfully used in the May primary. The decision was reached by a majority vote of the board on Wednesday.
The secure drop boxes will be placed inside two county-owned buildings: the Penn Place Building in Wilkes-Barre and the Broad Street Exchange Building in downtown Hazleton. The availability of these drop boxes offers voters a convenient alternative to mailing their ballots.
In other election-related news, the board also approved a home rule charter amendment referendum for Pittston City. This measure will be on the November 4 ballot, allowing Pittston voters to decide if they want to change the elected position of treasurer/tax collector to an appointed department director. The change would take effect after the current elected term expires at the end of 2027.
