Man jailed after firing shots outside Edwardsville bar

A 25-year-old Glen Lyon man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly firing a handgun outside a popular Luzerne County establishment following a domestic dispute. Officers from the West Side Regional Police Department were dispatched to Swizzle Sticks Bar & Grill on Main Street in Edwardsville at approximately 12:34 a.m. Tuesday for reports of an armed confrontation. According to investigators, William Hemple was involved in a heated argument with a woman inside the bar when he brandished a firearm before moving the altercation outdoors and discharging several rounds into the air. Hemple reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle shortly after the shots were fired but was apprehended by police a short time later. Upon searching his car, officers recovered the firearm and determined that Hemple did not possess a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon. He was subsequently arraigned on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, firearms not to be carried without a license, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct. Hemple is currently being held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility as the investigation into the initial domestic incident continues.
