SCOTT TOWNSHIP, PA – A 29-year-old man from Virginia was killed in an overnight crash in Lackawanna County early Monday morning, according to local authorities.

Crews responded to the scene around 2 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Rushbrook Road and Heart Lake Road in Scott Township.

Police reports from the scene detail a harrowing sequence of events: a vehicle traveling down Heart Lake Road allegedly swerved off the road, went airborne, landed on top of another parked or traveling car, and then crashed into the side of a nearby building.

The driver of the primary vehicle was ejected and died on impact.

The victim was identified only as a 29-year-old man from Virginia. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.

The fatal wreck remains under investigation.
