State legislators announced yesterday more than 14.1 million dollars in grants through the Local Share Account will be distributed throughout the 22nd and 40th Senate districts. The funding will go toward among other things, improving roadways, supporting law enforcement and first responders and other programs of public interest. In Lackawanna County, money will go toward upgrades at McDade Park pool, streetscape projects and sewer upgrades in several communities. In Luzerne County projects involving removing blight and improving roads in several communities, repairs of retaining walls along Hazle and Madison Streets in Wilkes Barre and purchase of a new fire truck pumper for Plains Township are just some of the economic development and transportation projects receiving the funding.
