Misericordia University and the Pennsylvania State Police have launched a new partnership designed to streamline the career path for aspiring law enforcement officers. Under the agreement, eligible criminology students can complete their cadet basic training at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey during the final semester of their senior year. This program allows students to earn academic credit toward their degree while simultaneously undergoing the rigorous training required to become a state trooper.
The university joins a growing list of institutions participating in this recruitment initiative, which was originally announced by State Police officials on December 30, 2025. Although a college degree is not a prerequisite to join the force in Pennsylvania, this collaboration provides a structured transition for students to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation. By integrating academy training with higher education, the partnership aims to bolster recruitment efforts and provide students with a direct pipeline into the ranks of the State Police.
