Moosic man sentenced for possession of child abuse material

A Lackawanna County man has been sentenced to state prison after investigators discovered more than 200 files of child sexual abuse material in his possession. The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office announced that Lucas E. Kelsey received a sentence of five to 10 years in prison, followed by six years of probation.

The sentencing comes after Kelsey pleaded guilty to felony charges related to the illegal material. Investigators from the Attorney General’s Child Predator Section originally executed a search warrant at Kelsey's home in Moosic in March 2025. During that search, authorities recovered 201 files from various hard drives.

In addition to his prison term and probation, the court ordered Kelsey to register with law enforcement for 15 years following his release. The Attorney General's Office noted that the investigation was part of an ongoing effort to combat the distribution and possession of illegal digital materials involving minors.
