FAIRMOUNT TWP., PA — State police have arrested a Columbia County man following a fatal two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon along Route 118 in Luzerne County.
The Luzerne County Coroner’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that 78-year-old Martin Temple, of Bloomsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators with PSP Troop P (Shickshinny), Temple was traveling westbound on Route 118 when another vehicle failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck his motorcycle near the Earl Lane intersection.
Troopers identified the driver of the other vehicle as 68-year-old Anthony Maurer, of Benton, who was uninjured. State police taken Maurer into custody as the arrestee and noted that alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The investigation remains active and ongoing as prosecutors review formal charging decisions.
