Multi-unit apartment fire draws large response in Carbondale

Fire crews from across Lackawanna County responded to a multi-unit apartment fire early Saturday morning in Carbondale. Emergency calls came in just after midnight for reports of smoke filling an apartment building on Wayne Street. Firefighters from Carbondale were joined by crews from Mayfield, Jermyn, Eynon, Greenfield Township, Dickson City, Browndale, and Forest City. Rescue teams worked to access the second floor, where heavy fire was discovered burning through the ceiling areas. There is currently no word on a cause of the fire.
