There is a shortage of 911 dispatchers in Lackawanna County.
According to reports, the 911 Center is down about 30% of its full staff, and they have a training class coming up to recruit more. Training takes about three months. The first six weeks are in the classroom, learning terminology, protocols, and even CPR. Luzerne County has had similar difficulties is staffing their 911 center in recent years, and has a new class in training to man the phones at their 911 center.
