NEPA football field to remain closed for the season

There will be no home games this season for one area high school football team due to an ongoing environmental cleanup. The Hanover Area Superintendent confirmed Thursday in a letter to the school community that clean-up and restoration efforts will require more time. In mid-August, lead-containing dust from a bleacher-painting project got into an air vent to a storage area and locker room facilities, and the high school had to find other venues for its first two home games this season. The school’s homecoming game against Tunkhannock will be held Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Wilkes-Barre Area stadium in Plains Twp.,
