A new park opened yesterday in Hazleton. It was the grand opening of Roosevelt Park at the corner of McKinley and 17th Street. The new wiffle ball park and playground will have lights that can stay on all night and soon cameras will be installed. It opens at a time where gun violence has been a growing concern at area parks but those attending the grand opening expressed excitement at having a new place to enjoy the outdoors. The city used American Rescue Plan Act funding to build the field.
