OLD FORGE, PA — A massive multi-agency manhunt ended in an arrest Monday night after a man allegedly shot a family member with an arrow, sparking a high-stakes search near a local school.
The incident began on Wyalusing Street, where police say Dakota Michael Lederer shot a relative in the back with an arrow. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
Following the assault, Lederer fled into a dense wooded area, prompting a heavy law enforcement response. The search featured:
Heavily armed tactical teams scouring the perimeter.
Drones and a State Police helicopter providing aerial surveillance.
K-9 units tracking through the brush.
Due to the proximity of the search area, Old Forge Junior-Senior High School was immediately placed on lockdown. Student-athletes who were inside the gym for basketball practice remained secured in the building until the area was deemed safe.
The search concluded shortly after 8:00 P.M. when the State Police helicopter spotted Lederer in the woods off Oak Street. He was taken into custody without further incident.
While Lederer is currently in handcuffs, the Old Forge Police Chief stated that formal charges are pending as the investigation continues.
