The Luzerne County District Attorney has released information on Wednesday night's shooting in Newport Township that happened around 9:30 at the corner of East Kirmar Ave & Lee Mine St. Police found a female gunshot victim lying in the backyard bleeding from her torso. They found the shooter in the house unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his chest and a pistol beside him. The Coroner has ruled the death a suicide. The female victim remains hospitalized.
