A Monday morning fire in Scranton sent one person to the hospital and left several others with burn injuries. Emergency crews were dispatched to a residence on Ballau Avenue just before 7:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a developing blaze and multiple residents who had already evacuated the building. While most of the occupants were treated at the scene for minor burns, one individual required more intensive medical attention and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The extent of the damage to the home has not yet been fully assessed, but the Scranton Fire Department remained on the scene for several hours to ensure no hot spots remained. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and a Scranton fire inspector has launched an official investigation to determine exactly what sparked the incident. Neighbors reported seeing heavy smoke billowing from the structure during the early morning commute, though quick action by first responders prevented the flames from spreading to adjacent properties.
