Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt announced Monday a statewide redesign of provisional ballot envelopes aimed at reducing ballot rejections in future elections. The updated design, which includes highlighted sections for required voter signatures, will be used in all counties for the upcoming November general election.
The move follows an initiative by Luzerne County’s Election Board, which voted last year to add yellow highlighting to signature lines on the envelopes. That change was first implemented during this year’s primary election and is now being adopted statewide.
Officials say the goal is to make it clearer where voters need to sign, helping ensure more provisional ballots are properly completed and ultimately counted.
“This simple change can make a real difference in preserving the votes of eligible Pennsylvanians,” Schmidt said.
