HARRISBURG, PA - The Shapiro Administration and PennDOT are plugging in more of Pennsylvania’s travel corridors. State officials announced Tuesday that $9 million in federal funding has been awarded to 12 new projects aimed at expanding the state’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

This latest round of funding comes via the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. Pennsylvania currently leads the nation in the deployment of these federal funds, with 30 stations already open and another 53 currently in the planning or construction phases.

In NEPA, a grant of $661,584 has been awarded to the Best Western Plus on Route 6 in Clarks Summit.

The station will be operated by Universal EV LLC and will be located near mile marker 328. The goal is to bridge the gap for long-distance travelers and local EV owners alike along the much traveled Route 6.

"This is a critical step to improving reliability and access to meet the needs of EV drivers in the Commonwealth," said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll.
