DALLAS TWP., Pa. — A tense police standoff in Luzerne County’s Back Mountain area came to a peaceful end Thursday afternoon with a suspect in custody.
According to Dallas Township Police, officers were dispatched Wednesday night to a home on Lake Street for a reported domestic incident. Investigators say a female suspect allegedly assaulted a male victim, who was able to leave the residence and contact police. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police say the woman then barricaded herself inside the home, prompting authorities to close a portion of Lake Street for several hours. Officers tried repeatedly to communicate with her, but she refused to come out.
After negotiations failed, the Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team entered the home shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday and safely took the suspect into custody.
No further injuries were reported, and charges against the woman are pending.
