Police in Wyoming Borough are warning about a fundraising scam. Police in Wyoming report that someone in the Borough recently received an envelope full of papers in the mail, containing a letter, donation slip, a bumper sticker, and thank you card. Regional Police Chief Michael Turner says a resident of Wyoming received all of that in an envelope from a Virginia-based mailing address. The person who received the letter did not want to discuss it, but it concerns the 2013 shooting of a Kansas Deputy Sheriff who survived his injuries, and featuring a signature claiming to be the deputy who was shot, as well as a signature made to appear to be that of the United States Sheriff’s Association’s Executive Director. Chief Turner warned borough residents that anytime you’re asked to fill out credit card information on a piece of paper like this: Don’t, and consider it a scam.
