PPL Electric Utilities has announced a new date and location for a public informational meeting regarding major electrical infrastructure upgrades in Lackawanna County. The utility will now hold an open house for the Archbald Mountain Transmission Project and the Callender Gap and Sturges Transmission Project on Tuesday, April 21, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will take place at the Montdale Country Club in Scott Township. This meeting was originally set for late March at the Throop Civic Center but was postponed by the company due to circumstances beyond its control.

The multi-million-dollar projects are designed to support the region’s growing energy needs, specifically the development of several large-scale data centers proposed for the Archbald area. The infrastructure plan includes the construction of a new 500/230 kV substation, switchyards, and approximately eight miles of high-voltage transmission lines that will span Archbald, Jessup, Olyphant, and Jefferson Township. PPL representatives will be available at the open house to answer questions from residents regarding the project’s timeline, which is expected to begin in 2027, as well as its potential impact on local properties and the environment.
