More than 500 Pennsylvania American Water customers in Pringle and Courtdale are currently under a precautionary boil water advisory following a significant water main break in the Ceasetown system. The break, which occurred early Saturday morning, caused a total loss of positive water pressure and led to a storage tank draining completely. This loss of pressure can potentially allow contaminants to enter the distribution system, prompting officials to issue the warning for approximately 536 affected households. While crews work to repair the infrastructure and restore normal service, residents are advised to bring all water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth.
To assist residents during the outage and subsequent advisory, a potable water tanker has been stationed at the Courtdale Municipal Building located at 5 Blackman Street. Customers are encouraged to bring their own clean containers to fill from the tanker until steady pressure is restored to their homes. Pennsylvania American Water officials stated that the advisory will remain in place until two consecutive rounds of water quality samples return clear of any bacterial contamination, a process that typically takes a minimum of 48 hours. Affected customers will be notified directly via the company’s emergency notification system once the advisory is officially lifted.
