Luzerne County prosecutors will pursue the death penalty against a 56-year-old man accused in a fatal Wilkes-Barre torture case after he turned down a final plea offer on Tuesday. Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce announced the decision to seek capital punishment against William Benjamin Wolfe, who stands accused of participating in the 2023 basement torture and murder of Nicole Cuevas-Ingram.
Wolfe is the fifth and final defendant charged in connection with the killing at a Wilkes-Barre rowhouse, a case local authorities have referred to as the "house of horrors." The four other co-defendants involved in the incident have already entered guilty pleas. Wolfe currently faces counts of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping, and related offenses.
Following Wolfe's rejection of the plea deal, a judge continued his homicide arraignment to Aug. 24. The postponement will allow the court time to find and appoint a defense attorney specifically certified to represent capital punishment cases.
