Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred last night around 7pm. in Susquehanna County Troopers were dispatched for the report of a suspicious vehicle/trespass by the Lewis Lake Association.
Troopers made contact with Joseph Michael Rothka, of Jefferson TWP, who was inside his vehicle in possession of multiple firearms. Police say
Rothka refused to comply with the trooper commands to exit the vehicle. They then instructed Rothka to drop the weapon, they say he failed to comply and pointed the weapon at the officers. PSP reports the troopers discharged
their weapons and Rothka was pronounced dead at the scene by the Susquehanna County Coroner. No officers were injured during the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
