Some relief may be near for Scranton homeowners seriously affected by Septembers flooding. According to published reports, Scranton City Council members have asked new council solicitor Tom Gilbride to research and issue a legal opinion on property tax relief options for the most critically affected flood victims,, stating people shouldn’t have to pay taxes on homes and properties they can’t live in or use, Lackawanna County commissioners and Scranton School District officials are also to pursuing potential county and school tax relief for those flood victims. All three taxing bodies are working on providing relief after flooding on Sept. 9 devastated parts of North Scranton and the Keyser Valley area. leaving nearly two dozen homes uninhabitable by flood damage.
