After a week of uncertainty and controversy, Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo confirmed Thursday that the final Rockin’ the River concert will go on as planned tonight—weather permitting.
The free, all-ages show will feature two tribute acts: Back In Black: A Tribute to AC/DC and Bat Out of Hell: A Tribute to Meatloaf. Gates open at 5 p.m. with music starting at 6 at the Millennium Circle along the River Common in Wilkes-Barre.
This marks the final concert in the popular three-week summer series, which draws large crowds each year for live music, food trucks, and beverage vendors along the Susquehanna River.
The event faced potential cancellation earlier in the week after the originally booked band, Low Cut Connie, was dropped over concerns about political messaging in their lyrics. A replacement act also raised concerns due to the lead singer’s criminal record. Ultimately, county officials decided the show would continue with the current lineup.
Crocamo’s announcement puts a cap on the controversy, setting the stage for one final night of music along the river.
