ARCHBALD, PA — In a legal challenge that could halt the construction of seven proposed data centers, the Valley View School District has filed a lawsuit against Archbald Borough and the developers of Project Gravity.
The school district's legal action argues that the 186-acre site designated for Project Gravity—located between Eynon-Jermyn Road and Business Route 6—should not be exempt from local zoning restrictions governing data centers.
If successful, the lawsuit would force Project Gravity to comply with a zoning ordinance amendment passed by the Archbald Borough Council in November 2025. The amendment restricts high-density data center facilities to four designated overlay districts within the municipality, none of which encompass the Project Gravity parcel.
Project Gravity was among the earliest hyper-scale data center complexes proposed during Lackawanna County's sudden development boom over 18 months ago.
