A Scranton Police officer shot Thursday morning has been identified. Authorities say the wounded officer is Detective Kyle Gilmartin, a 9 year veteran of the force, currently listed in critical but stable condition at Geisinger Community Medical Center. In 2021, Gilmartin received the 2020-2021 President's Excellence Award from East Coast Gang Investigations Association. Pa. State Police say the shooting appears to have been gang-related. Gilmartin was shot along with an unnamed subject after Scranton police officers were investigating two additional shootings that occurred earlier in the evening. During their investigation officers located a suspect and an exchange of gunfire occurred. One suspect is also hospitalized. Another man, 19 year old Jeremiah Cleveland of Mayfield, is charged in the shootings. Police are asking anyone with information to call 570-963-3156.
