Downtown Scranton will begin testing new traffic control measures starting October 19 by converting traffic lights at 13 intersections into stop-sign-controlled crossings.
The transition will impact key downtown corridors, including Biden Street at Franklin, Penn, and Wyoming avenues; Linden Street at Franklin, Penn, Wyoming, North Washington, and Adams avenues; Vine Street at Penn, North Washington, Adams, and Jefferson avenues; and Olive Street at Jefferson Avenue.
According to details posted on the city's website, the initial phase of the project involves installing new stop signs at the designated locations while switching the existing traffic signals to flashing red lights to guide drivers through the initial test period.
