Sen. Casey weighs in on whether Menendez should resign

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey added his name to the list of members of Congress who think indicted Sen. Bob Menendez should resign. Casey said in a statement that “Public service is a sacred trust. The specific allegations set forth in the federal indictment indicate to me that Sen. Menendez violated that trust repeatedly. “While he is entitled to the presumption of innocence, serving in public office is a privilege that demands a higher standard of conduct. Sen. Menendez should resign.”

A federal grand jury indicted Menendez on Friday on charges he accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes, including gold bars, in exchange for using power as a senator.
